For the creative arts industry & record business, technology advancement has dictated our attitudes to our craft & what limits we put on our practice/s. For the artist, its been a great step up in terms of access to recording technologies not needing to much more than a soundcard & a computer. But, what it meant for the business is an out-pour of recorded works that diminished in demand strictly due to volume. Hence, the lack of what the current demand is also dictated the worth of even the best of artists in the recording industry that led to under-valued price tags just so streaming platforms can get their feed. That's ok with me for I have only really knew how to get by doing my own thing. But to the greats, its big business lost. & now, we all have grown to accept it. & it breaks 'fairness & due credit' where its due & really sad to have functioned on the dragon...

What's productivity? How do you define its measure? How do you view it based on your priorities? What decides where you put your focus, time & energies on? These questions are what we most often quietly ask ourselves in our subconscious though often times, due to debris, fail to hear our most distinct voices as we are choked by the things & concerns of this world. My field of interest (sometimes a little obsessive, which is ok), being the general creative industries, specifically in music, its very difficult to see things as they appear & personally, I pray everyday to gain clarity within it all as a daily creative. I am caught up in the words I may have or haven't read about &/or spoke of in my early days of seeking the Christian faith & what I write about in this blog. & I am happy I have questioned myself & how scripture even may be still applicable today. The entertainment industry, specifically the music business, has been having everybody guessing on what will trigger the next big tidal wave to bring in raking dollars that has so whatsoever have maintained its 'sucker-punch appeal' to an ever devoted youth of dreamers, & super-driven ambitious individuals who would love to get in the circuit & cash in. Why that is, is because of a lack of encouragement to not to dream about being a superstar because of limelight percs. Ha! That's true for everyone regardless of what nature of work in any field you are. The music business itself due to driving artists on spotlights are more obvious because its meant to be obvious. For the musician, like any other trade, in fact in all of existence man in general blindly sought themselves listening to egoic opinions of others eventually crafting their own 'self-embracement'. That's the world of the ego and as a musician it gets quite sticky at times. Busyness of schedule, high profile jobs & well crafted skills can trigger it all so naturally well. Myself, well, I have my share of hurdles to do with the wrongheadedness of ego based opinion, including in my work ethic regardless of whether I am aware of it or not. Its not in the hard yards we give our best on, not in the artistic excellence we achieve for ourselves, or the high praises we receive for our work from others that is the root cause of ego driven lives. Sonship Parallel by Motto Rock As an old rhymer in yesteryears I just wanted to write one more time in tribute to a friend who was taken away by cancer. Strange how the Lord just wills His way & does what He pleases in some ways but it is what it is. So I grabbed a pad & a pen once more just to exhale reminiscing the days of when the crew of old (while John was still around)were still around knocking boots before having families. The sole purpose of music whether for healing or just entertainment or both is the very first thing a listener will come across when listening to music the first time. The feel of a song, sonics that touch the soul for healing. As a music fan, growing up listening to almost everything, I have carried the tunes over time as a grown up adult without losing the song or a beat in daily living. Just some of the thoughts i have with my own music. I think I am reaching some creative success. I would say that there is nothing better than finishing a recording & working with like minded individuals co-creating on a finished product. This particular beat here I would've loved to have gotten a vocal on the mix and in saying that, I am the same with most of my tracks. I prefer working with a lyricist/singer & the priority i truely have when it comes to creativity and a finished work are songs with vocals in them.
